What are Antioxidants and How Do They Work?
Hello everyone! today I want to talk about antioxidants, which are molecules that help neutralize free radicals to prevent oxidation of cells and tissues in general.
How do Antioxidants Work?
These molecules play important roles in many biological functions in our organism and they are known to have the benefit of slowing the process of cell degeneration and thus aging. Also today it has been discovered that many of these molecules prevent many types of cancer appearance and may even reverse some carcinogenic processes, when already had the disease.
Much has been made of the properties of antioxidants, some attribute the above mentioned anticancer benefits, others also attribute many others, which have been extensively tested on animals, but little in humans. Among these they are to avoid diseases like diabetes, heart disease and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and senile dementia.
Where Are The Antioxidants.
Antioxidants are present in most of our food, however there are some foods that have a higher content of such molecules are discovered every day and more so in this blog I want to talk to some of these foods. Today only the mention.
The popular foods high in antioxidants are the fruits which most, if not all, have a high content of such molecules. However there are many fruits that contain large amounts of these substances, among them we can mention blueberries and all berries in general. Besides others like plums, the Granada, red apple, citrus in general, kiwi and the popular mangosteen. Also nuts such as walnuts, peanuts and pistachios. Vegetables are another important source of antioxidants and include broccoli, garlic, onions, spinach and cabbage. Others like tomatoes are also good sources.
They are also owners of large fish antioxidant content of all kinds, however sockeye salmon on the west coast models is the United States that has more content. This is because you eat seaweed which provide a powerful antioxidant called astaxanthin which will be talking later.
Other foods high in antioxidants we can mention the green tea, black chocolate, bee pollen, red beans and finally, a series of rich and nutritious foods that will be seeing here on our blog.
